The Connova Group is the main contractor for the production of the primary structure of the Aero2 cargo drone from Dufour Aerospace. The load-bearing structure includes the main “wing” and “fuselage” assemblies as well as many other secondary components. The entire structure is manufactured using CFRP construction with some very innovative design principles that are being used for the first time in the world for this type of component.
This is precisely why the customer Dufour Aerospace turned to Connova Group. To work with experienced composite engineers to manufacture innovative and challenging structural components and to industrialize them for series production in the medium term. The integration of a tank volume into an already densely packed drone is typically a particular challenge. Not only the precise control of the center of gravity is an important requirement here, but also the fundamental question of whether and how much the tank should absorb structural loads and thus be “load-bearing” or not. The former leads to less weight, the latter to less complexity. The engineers from the Connova Group support customers in making the right decisions here. Weight optimization, leak tightness, control of the centre of gravity and vibration protection are just some of the issues that make a CFRP tank a “flying” CFRP tank. We are proud of the fact that we have already been able to implement various tank projects for aircraft and have always found the right solution. The external shape of the tank is not a limitation for us!

Every propeller – whether engine or helicopter – requires rotor blades that are adapted to its size and performance. The accuracy and quality of these rotor blades naturally influence the performance data as well as the reliability of the aircraft. Commercial solutions are often not available for rotor blades of this type and requirement. Connova Group’s engineers have therefore specified, developed, tested and qualified CFRP rotor blades together with the customer for a >100kg drone, for example. The experience and material data gained in the development of rotor blades represent a competence that can be used very well for similar development projects. We look forward to your inquiries!
